
In December 2010 Mr. Garner retired from Voith Hydro (formerly Voith Siemens Hydro Generation, Inc.) after 22 years of service.
From October 2003 until his retirement, Mr. Garner served as President & CEO of Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation, Inc. In this role, Mr. Garner was responsible for all of Voith Hydro's hydropower related business in the United States. Voith Hydro is a project company providing hydro power solutions. Prior to his promotion, Mr. Garner was the Executive Vice President, Operations for Voith Siemens Hydro and served on the management board. He served on the Hydro Board of the worldwide Voith Hydro Group, was a member of the Board of Directors of the Voith Siemens Joint Venture in China and Voith Hydro in Canada. Mr. Garner served on the Board of Directors of the National Hydropower Association. He was a founder and Chair of the NHA CEO Council.
Mr. Garner joined Voith Hydro, Inc. in February 1988 with over 16 years of experience in related fields. Mr. Garner has been associated with the design and manufacture of large capital equipment since 1972. His experience includes the design and manufacture of hydropower equipment. Prior to joining Voith, Mr. Garner held leadership positions in the mineral processing, thermal power, nuclear power, and chemical industries.
From 2002 to 2008 Mr. Garner led the company's to a 20% per year growth. In this period over 150 additional family sustaining green jobs were created in the United States. Mr. Garner led a $21m plant modernization program and was instrumental in reorganizing and strengthening the Company's Marketing, Project Management, Engineering, Scheduling, Quality and Purchasing processes.
Mr. Garner is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Lehigh University.
